Your Health is Your Wealth

How powerful are these 5 little words?

Your Health Is Your Wealth.

This pandemic has highlighted many things such as how simply we can live and how important our family and friends are.

But how vulnerable our bodies are to attack from an unknown virus is one that we must take seriously.  This is not the first “new” viral attack and it won’t be the last.  We are told that there is so much we do not know about this new virus. However there is a great deal we do know about how our body supports us when under attack.

  • We know that the more excess weight we carry the greater the risk we are at for all the conditions that make us vulnerable.

  • We know that the more balanced our immune system the better able it is to learn and respond when under attack.

  • We know that a healthy gut is at the core of a healthy body and mind and so our digestive system needs to be in tip top shape and firing on all cylinders.

  • We know the more resilient we are to stress the more we will be able to withstand both the physical and mental onslaught.

  • We know the priority we give to sleep will support all of the above and that lack of quality sleep will not only shorten our lives but leave us weak on all fronts. Check out my facebook live on sleep in my private group and this article with a few sleep tips.

Words like attack and onslaught, are not not my usual style when talking about health. I prefer words like support, build up and improve. But these are strange times.

Many of us live with chronic illness currently, have digestive issues, maybe overweight, stressed or not sleeping well. We might feel fearful or at a disadvantage, but I truly believe there is always something every one of us can do to improve health status.

Can you pick one thing today?

  • Eat a Rainbow - add in one extra colour or one extra vegetable every day or every week. Pop me an email for a copy of my fun Rainbow Chart.

  • Drink plenty of water - aim for 2 litres a day, increase gradually.

  • Reduce the amount of refined carbohydrates you eat - white bread products, sweets, cakes, biscuits.

  • Add in an extra daily activity - 10 minutes yoga or chair aerobics, all free on YouTube. For longer sessions check out North Star Health and Well Being Centre for a variety of online yoga, pilates, tai chi etc

  • Try 5 mins mediation first thing in the morning or last thing at night - try the Calm app. For a regular 30 minutes weekly meditation session on a Thursday at 8.15pm get in touch with Nuala at North Star (link above)

These are just a few ideas, any one of which if done consistently will improve your health status. One change at a time.

If you want any help with your health goals, I offer 121 consultations but also a variety of short affordable (check out the FREE webinar) programmes via Zoom.
